PAT Slim
After several weeks, we are now proud to announce that Slim Shadey hopes to become an ambassador for the breed, by beginning work as a Pets as Therapy Dog. He sailed through his health and temperament/suitability assessments a number of weeks ago and had just been waiting the official OK from the organisation. We will keep you updated on how he does on the website.

Est.Lt.JCHAzov
At last, after an amazing and long journey, we have arrived back in the UK with our new boy Azov. His beautiful nature and impeccable temperament made him an ideal travelling companion for such a long and arduous journey - he never put a foot (or should we say paw?) wrong the whole way. He coped with 3 days afloat, over 800 miles in the car and a very exclusive hotel in France, without any problems. Now Azov is getting to know the other hounds at Skyra, making new friends, investigating the poultry and our Lincolnshire countryside and beaches.

After a very lengthy wait, we are at long last off to collect our new boy : EST & LT JCH - BALT JW-05 - Club JW 2005 : AZOV : from the Baltics. All being well we should be back in this country with him by the end of next week. The journey alone will be quite an adventure, being over land and sea. Hopefully we will take many photographs enroute which we will be able to put on the website when we return.

RJT
It is with great sadness that we have to announce on this day Ronald James Taylor a major mainstay behind the scenes at SKYRA Wolfhounds over the years, passed away suddenly. He will be greatly missed by us all, especially the hounds and his special dog Dylan. We hope there are plenty of wet noses and wagging tails with him now, to keep him happy.

A big congratulations to Margaret Masterman and John Robson (Santerman) on receiving the Bitch CC (her third we believe and her title!) and Best of Breed with Aberglyn Cherokee of Santerman, bred by Alma Braybrook (Aberglyn). This lovely bitch is well worthy of her title. She is litter sister to Aberglyn Crystal Silver the Dam of our Lottie (Aberglyn Fantasy of Skyra) and Evie (Aberglyn Finesse of Skyra) , Grand Dam to the SKYRA "STAR" litter.

Finally, those who attended the show will know that Kym took quite a nasty fall on to the concrete flooring, whilst in the ring. We would like to thank everyone for their help and concern, particularly the other exhibitors who kindly waited whilst the situation was sorted out, the ring stewards and for the judge Angela Randall (Hammonds) who not only managed to very skillfully gain control of Barney Rubble who was terrified by the experience, but she patiently waited whilst we completely distrupted her judging. Thank you Angela for your patience, concern and for liking our dogs as much as we do. Thanks also to Alma Oakley (Jamarqui) for her kindness and prompt medical expertise and Sue Roome (Mableshounds) for taking over the handling of Barney Rubble, so that the judge could write her critique and continue with the judging.

Slim Shadey had his stitches removed at the vets and was remarkably given the all clear, having made an astonishingly good recovery from his operation. Many thanks to everyone who emailed and telephoned with their kind words of support during our difficult time with Slim. He hopes to see you in the show ring later this year. A huge "Thank You" to everyone at Frank Coleman’s Veterinary Surgery, Orby, Skegness, Lincs, for their dedication and skill which undoubtedly saved the life of our very precious Slim Shadey.

14th January 2005

9.30 p.m. Slim Shadey found collapsed in the garden and rushed to the vets, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove his spleen, repair his stomach and he also received a blood transfusion. His spleen had twisted and ruptured, causing his stomach to bloat, rupture and haemorragh. After a long weekend where it was touch and go whether or not Slim would survive, we were able to bring him home to recover.

10th December 2004
